Ephesians 2:4-6

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”.

This signifies REST.

Under the Old Covenant, there was no provision in the temple for the priest to sit down. He stands daily ministering because his work was never finished.

Today, Christ (our High Priest) is seated. He is seated because the work is finished.

Hebrews 1:3 AMP “…When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high”.

Hebrews 10:11-12, 14AMP

“Furthermore, every (human) priest stands (at his altar of service) ministering daily, offering the same sacrifices over and over again, which never are able to strip (from every side of us) the sins (that envelop us) and take them away— Whereas this One (Christ), after He had offered a single sacrifice for our sins (that shall avail) for all time, sat down at the right hand of God. For by a single offering He has forever completely cleansed and perfected those who are consecrated and made holy”.

Our redemption in Christ is a finished work. In Him we have entered into rest.

Under the law, the Sabbath was a day. In it, men were not permitted to work but to enjoy the fruit of all that has been accomplished.

Under the New Covenant, our Sabbath is a person. His name is Jesus. In Him we are enjoying the benefits of the finished work.

Hebrews 4:3 – “For we who have believed do enter that rest…”

No more lifeless religious obligations and toiling. He that has entered into rest has ceased from his toiling.

Our responsibility is to consciously REST because the work is finished.
