I Corinthians 1:30
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God…and righteousness and sanctification and redemption…
Christ is our Sanctification.
To be sanctified means to be set apart/separated unto God. To be sanctified means to be made holy as there is no such word as ‘holification’. In Christ we are God’s, set apart (holy) people.
Some have defined sanctification as separation from sin and a state of moral uprightness – a grossly inadequate definition.
Long before sin came into the scene, God has been holy (set apart/in a class of his own). Hence, sin can’t be the reference for the definition of holiness – God is.
The New Creation doesn’t stay away from sin in order to be sanctified. Staying away from sin is born out of the consciousness of WHOSE we are. We are God’s (set apart unto Him).
II Peter 1:9
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
I Peter 2:9 AMP
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, (God’s) own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
I Corinthians 6:11 NLT
There was a time when some of you were just like that, but now your sins have been washed away, and you have been set apart for God. You have been made right with God because of what the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you.
Hebrews 10:10 AMP
And in accordance with this will (of God), we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).
