God’s goodness is revealed in His salvation plan. Just as our first response to injury is first-aid; God’s first response to our mess is goodness.
After Adam committed high treason, God’s first response after addressing their mess was to cloth them – a demonstration of His goodness and kindness.
Genesis 3:21 – Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
Guess what! He is an unchanging God. He hasn’t stopped demonstrating His goodness. God’s greatest desire is to show us kindness and favor all the time. His creed of allegiance is to do us good; He exists in the state of consecration to do us good.
His salvation plan is encapsulated in His love and expressed in His goodness.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
From the above verse of scripture, Jesus Christ (our Soter) is God’s love gift to the world; and the end game is evident in His goodness of giving us everlasting life. The salvation plan is both a love affair and God’s goodie bag to humanity.
It is therefore extremely abnormal to reject such an outpour of great love and demonstration of goodness. God is not mad at us. He emptied the full weight of His wrath on Himself on the Cross of Calvary. There is no amount of wrong deed that will make Him mad at us; likewise there is no amount of good deed that will make Him pleased with us or love us more. He is simply pleased with us!
God’s plans are always interlaced with good; the salvation plan is no different.
Jeremiah 29:11 TLB – For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
If we can settle this truth in our heart, then trusting in what He has done (salvation) becomes very easy.
