Preserve means to protect, maintain, safeguard, keep and save. That you are saved means you are preserved.
God’s will is preservation. Preservation is part of the salvation package:
John 6:39 AMP – “And THIS IS THE WILL of Him Who sent Me, THAT I SHOULD NOT LOSE ANY OF ALL THAT HE HAS GIVEN ME, but that I SHOULD GIVE NEW LIFE AND RAISE (them all) UP AT THE LAST DAY.
The above scripture is Jesus revealing the Father’s express will concerning us: That none be lost (but ALL be preserved); that we have the new life; and be raptured at last! First we see that the Father’s will for us is preservation.
Secondly, we see how He intends to preserve us: BY HIS LIFE! His life is self-preserving/indestructible/eternal:
John 10:28 – “And I give unto them ETERNAL LIFE; and THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Thirdly, we have the assurance of rapture on the last day. Jesus is our ‘ticket’ to heaven. If you are in Christ, you need not worry about not making heaven because heaven is your natural destination; Jesus already canceled your ticket to hell:
Psalm 16:10 MSG – “You canceled my ticket to hell – that’s not my destination!” …This psalm speaks of Jesus and what He’s done!
Doubting your preservation is doubting God’s faithfulness and ability to preserve you:
John 10:29 – “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand”
He has already preserved us in Christ:
Jude 1:1 – “Jude the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, TO THEM that are sanctified by God the Father, and PRESERVED IN JESUS CHRIST and called…” We are the sanctified and the preserved.
The story of Noah’s preservation in the ark is a pointer to our preservation in Christ; just as those who were in the ark were saved, so are we (who are in Christ) preserved from evil/eternal destruction.
The salvation package/plan is our exemption from evil. We are protected, maintained, safeguarded, kept and saved in Christ!
